Job Description
PEDESTRIAN.TV is on the hunt for a passionate News Writer with a unique tone of voice to join our dynamic editorial team. As a News Reporter, you’ll craft compelling, news-based content for both written and social-first formats, ensuring young Aussies are informed and entertained. From social issues to the latest in AusPol, your insights will help shape the conversations that matter to our audience. You’ll thrive in our fast-paced, collaborative newsroom, delivering stories that ignite curiosity and engagement.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Produce timely, engaging news content across multiple formats
- Collaborate with the editorial team to brainstorm and execute content ideas that align with the PEDESTRIAN.TV tone.
- Monitor news trends and online conversations to identify relevant topics for our audience.
- Manage and grow our social media presence
- Create eye-catching social media assets using Canva and/or Photoshop.
- Conduct research and interviews as needed to provide depth and accuracy in reporting.
- Work independently while meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Experience in a digital newsroom, focusing on news coverage.
- Proficiency in social media management across platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
- Proven experience in creating social media assets and content strategies that grow audiences.
- Strong understanding of the interests and concerns of young Australians.
- Ability to engage with online conversations and trends effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree in media, communications, journalism, or design preferred (not mandatory).
